2024 SEASONAL SUPPORT STAFF POSITIONS: Early/Mid June - Second Week August

  • On-Site Camp Nurses (R.N’s, LPN’s): Summer Med Team; work dates from mid June - early August. Full summer bonus!

    • Current Virginia RN license, LPN certification and CPR certification required. 

    • Options for 1-7 weeks

  • Kitchen Staff: Work dates from June - August. Hourly or weekly pay options. Options for 1-7 week work stays. Experience in food service, quantity cooking, prep, and kitchen management required. Must have excellent organizational skills and time management skills. Servsafe certification, CPR and First aid certification required or willingness to obtain. Full summer bonus!

    • Camp Cooks (part-time, full-time)

    • Special Foods Cooks (part-time, full-time)

    • Weekend Camp Cooks

    • Part-time Lead Cooking Instructor and part-time assistant instructors: Help us co- build this program! Baking, Food preservation, Garden-to-table, outdoor cooking. Reach out for more information!

YEAR-ROUND SUPPORT STAFF POSITIONS

Camp Varsity is looking for an experienced to take over our summer riding program who is interested in co-building a unique year-round program throughout the fall, winter and spring. Must have experience teaching English and Western riding for all levels and ages and relevant CHA certifications or equivalent experience.

  • Horse Program Supervisor, Barn Help and Trail Riding Instructors: Local candidates only; experience with horses, training, youth riding and instructor experience required.

    • This is a part-time position with potential for year-round work; ideal candidates are seriously interested in co-building a unique riding program throughout the year.

    • CPR and First aid certification required or willingness to obtain.

  • Special Skills Areas in which you are experienced and/or professionally qualified and/or certified: Arts and Crafts, Archery, Horse Program, Garden to Table, Homesteading and Survival and Nature/wilderness skills.

In order to make volunteering or work-trading at Camp a rewarding experience for you as well as our campers and Camp Staff, your understanding and support of Camp policies is needed and greatly appreciated. All volunteers and individuals on work-trade must be 25 years or older, be able to commit to at least one week, have reliable transportation, have health insurance, and pass background checks.


Specialized Position Requirements: All candidates for these positions must be at least 18 and older, have reliable transportation and go through a screening process including an interview, reference check, and background checks. Staff must be prepared to work onsite for one or more weeks, depending on the position, including a training and orientation period. For our summer camp COVID protocols, please see how we operated in 2021.

Interviews are conducted based on qualified applicants. Options available for a few weeks or more weeks depending on position. Options may be available for your camp-aged children to attend camp in a work/exchange. Meals and laundry provided; housing may be available.

The job of working at Camp Varsity is a fun, demanding, and rewarding one. Working at Camp requires a great deal of stamina, interpersonal skills, proactive communication, patience, and resilience.

Our main goal at Camp is to ensure that campers have a positive, fun and safe camp experience. All members on Camp Staff must be comfortable engaging with Staff of various ages and enjoy supporting and working with youth of various backgrounds.
